Kelly Fennell – Owner
In the metal fabrication business, there are few who can match Kelly’s level of skill, creativity, honesty, approachability, and good ole’ fashioned hard-work ethic.
He brings with him over 40 years’ experience that started when he was 12 years old, watching his stepfather weld and fabricate for the first time. His stepfather, at that time, was the youngest ticketed welder in Canada and a pipeliner in Alaska.
Immediately he was “hooked” and knew this was to be his calling. His first welding job came at 17, when he headed up a crew of six, welding greenhouses. From there, he moved to the fabrication shop at Tri-Central Manufacturing for 6 years – all the while soaking up everything he could about the trade, both technically and creatively. He then took this experience to L. J. Custom Sheet Metal in Cloverdale. His 20 years as their working foreman (ensuring customer satisfaction was always his top priority) helped forge this fledgling company into the successful sheet metal shop it is today.
In 2002, Kelly finally decided it was time to work for himself. Equipped with only a tool box, a welding machine, an old Chevy Truck, and an unshakable commitment, he started to build his own business one customer at a time. With the help of his wife, Annemarie, and later his son Jesse, his dream of heading up a successful business had finally come true.
Kelly has many things to be proud of. You can see his work everywhere – from the Brass entryway of the Hotel Vancouver and Hotel Georgia, to the Hotel Cathedral. His stainless-steel work is featured in the Pacific Hotel and in many banks, bars, and restaurant entryways. His stainless steel, copper, brass, and iron work – everything from railings to chimney caps – enhances many prestigious homes throughout Vancouver.
Kelly has also expanded his business to include Dust Collection, Spray Booths, Ventilation, and Custom Iron Work.
But the thing he is most proud of is his son Jesse, who is following in his footsteps and proving to be every bit as skilled and creative as Kelly. It seems he has inherited not only his father’s technical skill and problem solving ability, but also his heartfelt desire to put the customer first. Both father and son do everything in their power to provide the best quality work – guaranteed of course – at the best possible price.
